The Best Life

A practical way for normal people to get to their best life, even in an unstable and unfair world.

The problem

Land is expensive. Renting is insecure. Building alone is hard. And most people — retirees, remote workers, families, people between chapters — don't have the capital or the connections to get to the life they actually want.

The world has become harder to navigate. But the resources to live well still exist. What's usually missing is a structure that makes them accessible to ordinary people rather than only to those who are already wealthy.

That's what we're building.

What we offer

Each project gives members access to land in a secure, well-chosen location — with space to live, local food production, real community, and costs low enough that you can stop working for survival and start doing what matters to you.

How it's structured

Each project is set up as a trust, with each member as a named beneficiary. You have legally defined rights to your own private space and an equal share in the communal land and facilities. This gives you real security without requiring you to navigate property ownership in a foreign country alone.

Every project is different — the structure, the facilities, the costs, and the rules are all shaped by the specific site and the people who join it. We don't impose a single model. We facilitate the arrangement that works for the group.

Governance is flat. A general assembly of all members sets direction; small elected working groups handle day-to-day decisions. Rules exist to protect everyone's enjoyment of the place, not to restrict it.

Your space, your call

There is no obligation to build anything. Some members will arrive with a clear vision and build quickly. Others will camp, travel, or wait. That's fine — your plot is yours, and what you do with it is your business.

When you do build, you can build whatever you want, within two basic limits: the total number of permanent residents across the site has a cap (to keep the community manageable), and your construction can't meaningfully harm your neighbours' enjoyment of their space. Within those limits, every plot has room. A cabin, a house, a workshop, a studio, a small farm — it's yours to decide.

On sanitation: both septic systems and composting toilets are supported where possible. We'll work with what the site and local regulations allow — no ideology about it.

The numbers

Costs vary by site — land prices, local labour, facilities, and the specific needs of the group all affect the final figure. These are the working numbers for the first project in Colombia:

What Cost
Membership share Your stake in the trust — land, common facilities, shared infrastructure. Phased payment available. $5,000
Home build (optional) Materials plus any required professional labour for your own structure. Economy of scale; paid when your wave builds. ~$7,000+
Monthly running costs Maintenance, food production, shared services, operations reserve. Refined once the site is confirmed. $50–150

These are honest working numbers. They will be refined publicly as design and location firm up, and will differ for future projects in other locations.

The first project — Colombia

Our first and most developed project is in the mountains of Colombia, two to three hours from Bogotá — rural, food-abundant, lightly populated, and within easy reach of an international airport. The climate is mild year-round at altitude. Land is affordable. The local community is established and welcoming.

Colombia is also one of the more accessible countries for people looking to relocate legally. Retirement and digital nomad visas have income thresholds well within reach of anyone with a modest pension or remote salary, and the path to permanent residency is clear. See the full Colombia visa guide →

Nothing is locked in yet. Early members will have a real voice in where exactly the site lands and how it's set up.

Who this is for

Retirees who want land and security without burning through savings. Remote workers who want a real base instead of a rotation of short leases. Families who want space and a community to raise children in. People between things who want time and room to figure out what's next.

You don't need to be wealthy. You need to be committed to living alongside other people in good faith.

There's no ideological test. We're not a commune, a religious community, or a political project. We're a practical arrangement for people who want a better life and are willing to organise to get it.

Get on the list

We're gathering the first group of interested people now. No commitment — just an early signal that you'd like to know more as things firm up.
